We went to Colchester where is in northeast on London.
コルチェスターは、紀元前のローマ征服時代にすでに名前が記録に残っていることから、
イギリス最古の街と言われています。
今でも城壁の後など古い遺跡が残っています。
Colchester is claimed to be the oldest town in UK as its name has been registered since Roman era.
There were some Roman heritages in the town.
そこまで古くはないですが、旧市街も古い建物が並んでいてかわいい。
The Old Town is so cute!
カラフルな家並みがとってもかわいい町です。
Very colourful and has a character.
ダッチ・クォーターと呼ばれるエリアは、古いチューダーのカラフルな建物が並びます。
There were lots of Tudor colourful buildings in Dutch Quarter area.
こちらはノルマン人が１１世紀に建てた城。
実はこのお城、ローマ神殿の跡地に建てられました。
ローマのあの神殿がイギリスにもあったなんて信じられない…。
This is Colchester Castle, built in the 11th century by Normanean.
Actually, it's built on the foundation of Roman temple.
I can't believe that Roman temple were here in UK....
城のまわりは公園になっていて、 小川も流れていてとってものどかです。
There is a big park around the castle. It's very peaceful.
こちらは中世の修道院跡。
This is the ruin of the abbey from Middle Ages.
