ロンドンオープンハウスとは、ロンドン中の有名建築に無料では入れるイベントです。
市庁舎や、オフィスであるガーキン、王立裁判所など、普段は一般の人が入りにくいところも公開されますし、
建築が有名な個人宅にも入れます。
毎年私の誕生日とかぶるので、なかなかいく機会がなかったのですが、
去年、今年とやっと行く機会がありました。
今年こそはセント・パンクラスのあの有名ホテルに! と思ってたのですが、
なんと8月の時点で予約がいっぱいになっていたみたい。
(フリーですが、建物によってツアーのみ、ツアー参加にも整理券が必要なところもあります。）
なので今年も近場へ行くことに。
It was London Open House last weekend.
London Open House is the big event in whole London, which you can explore most of famous buildings in London for free.
The buildings you can go in this event are included The Snail London town hall, The Gherkin, Royal Courts of Justice, and so on, which the general public can't enter usually.
Also, private properties by famous architects are also opened in this event.
This event is always in the same weekend as my birthday so I was often away that time.
Since last year, I finally had a chance to go to this event.
I wanted to go to St Pancras Renaissance Hotel this year, but it was already fully booked in August.
(The event is free, but some buildings are only allowed to see in tour, and some of them need to be booked.)
We gave up and decided to go somewhere near our flat.
今年選んだのは、家から徒歩とバスで20分くらいのオスタリーハウス。
ナショナルトラストに管理されています。
イギリスでは有名な建築家の、ロバート・アダムの建築。
彼のほかの建築では、ケンウッドハウスやサイオンハウス、バースにある有名なパルトニー・ブリッジなどがあります。
We chose Osterley Park and House, which is only 20 minutes away from our flat.
National Trust manages this house now.
The house was remodeled by Robert Adam, the famous architect in UK.
He also designed Kenwood House, Syon House, Pulteney Bridge in Bath, and so on.
広い敷地内はとてものどか。
牧場が広がっていたり、ハウス前には湖、広いグリーンに、子供用のアスレチックも。
建物内とバックガーデン以外は無料なので、ピクニックにも良さそう。
The park is very peaceful.
There is a lake, large farm, green, and play area for kids.
It's free except the house and the back garden.
エリザベス一世の時代から(ファミリーは違えど)銀行家の家でした。
このエントランスホールは、ITVのミス・マープル「バートラムホテルにて」にも出てきます。
(ラストの謎解きの場面のホールです。）
ITVのマープルはお気に入りで、数々のマナーハウスやステキな場所が出ているので、いろいろ撮影場所をチェックしていましたが、
ここは今ブログを書いてる時点で知りました。
It used to be a banker's house.
This entrance hall was on ITV's Marple "At the Bertram Hotel".
マカロンカラーがラブリーな天井。
近場なのでこんなにゴージャスだとは思ってなかったので、意外に見ごたえがありました。

ゴージャスな部屋もいいけど、素朴なキッチンも好き。
ヴィンテージの小物を置いてるところがまたツボ。

階段のホールにあるのは、パトラッシュの飼い主もあこがれたルーベンス。のレプリカ。
本物は戦争中に焼けてしまったそうです…。
There is a Rubens' paintings on the sailing of the staircase.
It's a replica though.
The original was burnt during the war.
ハウスの裏には広大なガーデンが広がっています。
There is a lovely huge garden in the back of the house.
中にはいろんな種類のお花が咲き乱れたフラワーガーデンも。
整えられたイングリッシュガーデンというよりは、花を育ててるだけの花畑という感じですが。
ハウスにはいたるところにカラフルな花が飾られているのですが、このお庭から取れたお花だそう。
私も欲しい! 敷地内にあるファームハウスで売っているかも。
They have lovely flower gardens.
There is many kinds and colours of flowers.
You can see lovely flowers in the house and those are from this garden.
You might find those in the farm shop in the site.
寒くなってきたロンドンですが、この日はとても暖かい日だったので、デッキチェアでしばし日向ぼっこ。
ステキな昼下がりでした。
It's getting chilly in London, but it was very warm day when we went there.
We did sunbathing on deckchairs.
Lovely afternoon.
家の近くにこんなステキな場所があったとは！
敷地内のファームショップでは新鮮なお野菜も買えます。
今度はピクニックに来よう!
I didn't know that there was such lovely place near our home!
They have a farm shop and you can buy fresh vegetables.
I will come back for a picnic! :)
