まだまだスルタンアフメットには見所がいっぱい。

Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnici)     地下宮殿

It used to be a cistern from Eastern Roman Empire (4-6th century).
It is very fantastical to see many pillars on the water under the ground.
Those pillars and Medusa shaped foundation were odd items, not made for the cistern.
You can still see fishes in the water.

地下宮殿という名の、東ローマ帝国時代(４－６世紀）の貯水池。
水が張られた地下の空間に並ぶ装飾された柱は、とても幻想的。
これらの柱や不気味なメデューサの土台などは、半端材料で適当に持ってこられたものらしい。
貯水池には今も魚が泳いでいる。

Little Hagia Sophia (Kucuk Ayasofya Camii)    キュチュク・アヤソフィア・ジャーミィ

The mosque used to be a church of Greek Orthodox.
It is a very cosy mosque with beautiful fine blue decoration.

「小さなアヤソフィア」という名前のモスク。
元はギリシア正教の教会だった。
白を基調に、ブルーの細やかな装飾がとてもきれいでこじんまりとしたモスク。

Arasta Bazaar     アラスタバザール

It's a small bazaar of souvenir shops for tourists near Blue Mosque.
It was a bit pricey, but convenient as some of the shops were opened even in the fist day of Eid.

ブルーモスクのすぐ近くにある観光客向けのおみやげバザール。
ちょっとお高いけれど、Eidの初日にも開いていたので便利。

 Not only Arasta Bazaar, there are a lot of restaurants, hotels, souvenir shops in Sultanahmet.
I will write about my favourite restaurants in the area.

上のアラスタバザールだけでなく、スルタンアフメットの、特にブルーモスクから南のエリアには
たくさんの観光客向けのレストラン、ホテル、お土産屋がずらり。
次回はこのエリアのおすすめレストラン。
