Although I went there ages ago, I'd like to write about my favourite place in London as it was on Time Out London last week too.
There is a building with strange silhouettes in front of my favourite pub in East End.
なんだろうと思っていたら、博物館のような施設だったのですが、
かなり開館時間が変則的なのでずっと行けず。
ジュビリーのストリートパーティーのときにやっといけました。（いつの話やねん。）
I was wondering what this building was.
I found out it was kind a museum. But it's only open a few hours a week, so I couldn't go.
I finally could get in in Jubilee Street Party. (Yes, I know it's a long time ago!)
デニス・シーヴァーズ・ハウス。
これは、ジョージア様式の家を使って、１８～１９世紀の裕福な家庭を再現した、
アンティーク好きにはたまらない博物館なのです。
残念ながら、見学時の写真撮影は禁止ですので、ここから先はネットからお借りした写真で。
Dennis Severs' House.
It's a museum in a Georgean house reviving a rich family in the 18th - 19th century.
I would say it has a strong appeal to antique lovers.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to take photos inside there.
I'll show you photos which I found from internet.
博物館といっても、物が並べられて、説明文がつけられて、という展示の仕方ではなく、
当時の家を使って、当時の生活そのものを再現しているので、
まるでタイムスリップしたかのような気分が味わえます。
It's a very unique museum.
There are no glass cases and descriptions for each items.
It's a perfect recreation of the 18th century family's house and life.
You feel like to slip back in time to the 18th century.
この博物館に電気はなく、明かりはすべてろうそく!
そうなのです、当時の様子を徹底して再現したため、インテリアだけでなく、
匂い、音までも、当時の雰囲気をかもし出すために再現。
本当にその当時の雰囲気を味わえます。
There is no electricity, the lights are all candles!!
Yes, it is a really perfect recreation of that time.
Not only the interior, smells, sounds, all of them are there to make you feel to be in the 18th century.
季節やイベントごとにもちゃんと模様替え。
私が行ったときはジュビリーのパーティー用に飾りつけがなされていましたが、
今の時期にはこのように豪華なクリスマスのデコレーションが見られるのでしょう。
私もまたいこうかな。
The time there is not stopped, it's just slipped back.
The season properly come to this museum, Christmas too.
When I went there, there were decorations for the Jubilee party.
It must be decorated for the beautiful Christmas decoration.
I'd love to see it!
地下はキッチン。
食べ物から、暖炉の火もすべて本物。
メイドはちょっと席をはずしてます、そんな光景。
The basement is a kitchen.
The food and the fire is also real.
It was like, their maid just popped out somewhere to shop something....
２階はもっとプライヴェートな空間。
この博物館は、実際にここに住んでいた人の生活の再現というわけではなく、
ここに住んでいたアメリカ人のアーティスト、デニス・シーヴァーズが、
１８～１９世紀の裕福な絹織物業者の家、という設定の下、
完全なるイマジネーションの賜物。アートなのです。
The first floor is more private space.
This museum is not showing the life of people who used to live here.
This is the house of an American artist of Dennis Severs.
He decorated this house as he imagined that it was a house of a rich family of silk weavers in the 18th - 19th century.
It's an art.
ここはその絹織物業者の娘のお部屋でしょうか、かわいいドレスに、ガーリーな小物。
ゴージャスなベッドは、きちんとベッドメイキングしておらず、
今まさに彼女が起きたところ、といわんばかりに乱れています。
I guess it is a room of their daughter..... A beautiful dresses and girly items.
The gorgeous bed is not tidy, it's just like that she just got up.
全体的にちょっと乙女でフレンチ的なイメージがある３階が私好み。
I like these rooms.... very girly ;)
４階の屋根裏はうってかわってみすぼらしい雰囲気。
使用人の部屋なのかな、と思ったら、
この部屋は、１９世紀になって絹織物業が没落していった頃の部屋なのだそう。
あの豪華絢爛な暮らしから一転…現実的だわあ。
The attic is suddenly changed the atmosphere.
I wondered that it was a servant's room.
But it was actually their room after the silk weavers were downfallen in the 19th century.
Mmm, that't the reality.....
やっぱり私はアンティーク好き。
となりのこの部屋はちょっと豪華なんだけど、ほこりっぽくて、みすぼらしい雰囲気。
ここはチャールズ・ディケンズにちなんだ部屋になっているようです。
（ディケンズが実際に使った部屋、とかではない。）
The next room is a bit more gorgeous, but still dusty and shabby.
This is an imagined room of the character from Charles Dickens' literatures.
さて、アンティーク好きの私がこんなにフォーリンラブしてしまうのもお分かりいただけたかと思うのですが、
この博物館にはもう一つ、私の心をわし掴んでしまったポイントがあるのです。
それは…この子!
Now you see I love this house as my passion of antique and vintage.
But there's another reason I fell in love with this museum.
It's....her!!
なんと、この博物館、黒猫ちゃんがいるのです。
ちゃんとこの家に住んでいて、
普通ならさわっちゃだめ!!な大事な展示物のアンティークベッドにも平気で寝転がるし、
お客さんの足元のあいだを縫って、悠々自適に過ごしています。
そんな、アンティーク好き、猫好きの心をくすぐるどころか強烈にひきつけるこの博物館、
ロンドンにお越しの際は、ぜひ行ってみてください。
You know what, this museum has a cat!
She lives in this museum and walk around over all precious antique items, and lie down on a antique bed....!
