Cafe*Market Coffee House

前回紹介したヴィンテージフェアの帰りに、目の前にあるカフェによっていきました。

We went to a cafe in front of the vintage fair I wrote last time.

こちらのMarket Coffee Houseは、とっても有名なのですが、

 (上の写真はけっこう前に撮っていて、現在はThe English Restaurantと書いてありますが、

店名は今もMarket Coffee Houseです。） 

まず私はコーヒーを飲まないので、なんとなく行く機会を逃していました。

でも最近、レトロな内装に惹かれて再び興味津々、今回やっと行ってきました。

Market Coffee House is very popular, but I've never been there.

(The photo above is a little bit old, there's no longer the sign "Market Coffee House", 

there is "The English Restaurant" instead.)

Even though I live just few mins away from there, I didn't think about it coz I don't drink coffee!

But we finally went there.

とってもレトロなインテリアがなんともステキ。

一番古い箇所はなんと１６７０年のもの!

How retro it is.  The oldest part is from 1670!

お茶しにきたのですが、お隣に座っている方のランチを見ていたらおなかがすいてきたので、

(この日は朝が遅かったので、ランチ抜きの予定だった）

ランチを頼むことにしました。

We came for tea, but we got hungry when we saw people having lunch next to us.
 (We had a late breakfast, so we were not going to have lunch.)
So we decided to have a small lunch here.

 相方さんは本日のスープ。(この日はロースト･ベジタブル）


私はゴートチーズとトマトチャツネのハニートースト。

ゴートチーズが最後はくどかったけど、おいしかったです!


シェパーズパイがお得だったのだけど、この日はすでに売り切れ。


次回にトライしたいと思います。




My partner had Soup of the day. (that day was roast vegetable.)
I had Goat cheese and tomato chatney on toast with honey.
Goat cheese was too much in the end, but it was delicious.
Shepard's pie was very good price that day, but already sold out.  We'll try next time.

お待ちかねのケーキタイムのころにはもう満腹!

ケーキを食べたかったけど、本当におなかいっぱいだったので、おとなしくマドレーヌに。

プルーストの「失われたときを求めて」のように紅茶につけてパクリ・・・。

ここはコーヒーハウスといえども紅茶の種類がとても豊富!

相方さんもおなかいっぱいだったくせに、小麦粉抜きのチョコケーキを見つけてホクホクと注文。

最後は「やっぱりやめとけばよかった・・・」と後悔していたけど、
近場でとってもステキなカフェに会えてよかった!


また行きたいと思います。




I was so full when we finished lunch.  I wanted to have a cake, but ended up just madeleines.
Like "In Serch of Lost Time" by Proust, a bite of a madeleine with tea....
This is a coffee house, but there are various tea selection!
My partner was full as well, but he found a flourless chocolate cake, of course he ordered....
He regretted in the end,  we were very glad to find a nice cafe near our flat.  
We'll come back here again!
